The power of pondering
I love to ponder over yonder.
Every day I ponder life and the universe for at least 45 minutes.
In the mornings I ponder while I drink my cup of coffee at 10 o'clock. In the evenings I like to ponder while sipping a big mug of tea.
During my pondering I listen to classical music, and let it wash over me. And all the time I just let my thoughts roam freely.
At first I feel a bit antsy. Suddenly I'll remember all kinds of stuff I have to do and I can feel my body getting ready to jump out of my easy chair and go and do them. But I won't let it. Instead I write whatever it is down in my moleskine and continue to sit there.
And then it won't be long before I start to feel calmer. I start to enjoy sitting there. I start to take pleasure in my life.
Pondering versus meditating
I prefer pondering over meditating. Meditating is hard. Especially since meditating makes me feel I should empty my mind, instead of letting my thoughts take a hike.
Time to ponder: the perks
- Pondering helps me get in touch with myself.
- It feels good to think about everything that happened during the day.
- Pondering inspires me. After I sit and ponder for a while, I get all kinds of new ideas!
Do you take time to ponder?

When my kids were younger I used to rise early, make my coffee and sit for an hour pondering. I got away from this years ago but recently have rediscovered how pleasant it is, I like you have to get past that point of leaping up to go do something. Having a note book close by would help.
Thanks for linking this week on Friday Features, wishing you a great weekend!

I don't have a specific set time, but I really do love to ponder throughout the day! And, I love your thoughts about pondering versus meditating. I'd be really happy if pondering has the same effect, because like you, I think meditating is hard 🙂
This is a great post. One of my favorite pastimes. So glad you posted over at Home Matters so I got to read this!
What a lovely post....I just posted something similar....it's important to take a reprieve, indulge in a small reverie, isn't it!? Visiting you from Katherine's Corner Linkup.
Found you over on the Coffee & Conversation link up. Great topic and post! I just finished pondering some things myself! Thanks for sharing!
I'm pretty sure I ponder far too often LOL I need to do PRODUCTIVE pondering...I think that's the key for me LOL Thanks so much for taking the time to link up with us over at the #HomeMattersParty - we hope to see you again this Friday! Feel free to bring a friend 🙂
Oh I love this! I am such a ponderer even when I am trying to "meditate." I find my creativity is at its peak during these times. I think I may steal your idea and keep a notebook close by so I don't let my best ideas slip past me. Visiting from Wednesday's Wisdom link up.

I ponder at 6 am while in the shower. That's the only time I have. Sometimes, I ponder too long and then have to rush to the office, lol. Thank you for sharing at Thursday Favorite Things. Hope you have a fabulous day!
