The proper care and feeding of husbands
According to my mom, and Dr. Laura, author of the book The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands, men are basically very easy to manage. Just throw enough sex and food their way, and they’re content.
The first time my mother threw this advice at me I was a bit shocked. Mostly because it concerned Sex, and second of all because I felt it was a bit demeaning to men. But when I told my hubby about my mom’s advice, he smiled happily and said: ‘She’s got a point!’
So now, whenever I want to to give my hubby a treat, I put on this fancy negligΓ© and some high heels. And then I totter to the kitchen and I bake him a pot roast.
Because I like my eight hours a night.
nice one! me too x
Ha! That's funny. I actually found that book to be pretty much right-on. My husband is very easy to please and keep happy. Yes, lots of "attention" from me is what he thrives on.
Maybe that explains the nine kids?

If I throw enough food at my husband, he'd be to full and sleepy for sex…
LOL! LOL! LOL! That is sooooooooo funny…I ALSO like my 8 hours of RESTFUL sleep!
You're mom is a smart cookie!
Hopped over from the What I Love About Me hop…now following!
haha! I have to agree with Rachel Joy…I just stuff mine full of something good to eat, and then he gets sleepy!
LMAO! Funny!
Thanks! Now I know what to do if I want a good night's sleep: just feed my husband till he keels over from all the food.
That's hilarious, but she's got a point. Too bad I'm a lousy cook. Does ordering in count as keeping them happy???
Jessica I'm sure ordering in counts too! As long as you keep him fed, you're alright!
I can't let my husband know the method to my madness though – he's really stubborn and if he thinks I have a system he won't cooperate anymore π
Thanks so much for joining the Tuesday Train!

It has been said that one way to a man's heart is through his stomach. And since we're all so busy and sleep is precious, that's one way to keep him happy π Hey, we have to feed the family anyway π

I love the advice your mom and Dr. Laura gave you. It is funny and I agree, has some truth to it. I have been happily married to my sweetheart for 33 years now. My hubby also likes to be praised when he helps with housework. We think it is amusing that I am ALWAYS doing work around the house and that he feels like he has done something huge when he empties the dishwasher and makes the bed. Maybe I spoiled him too much but it is OK.
I am following today from the 3Four and Under blog hop. My blog is devoted to helpful, hope-filled ideas for overwhelmed families.
I look forward to exploring your site.
I like this post. Its so true, lol.
Ya, that definitely sounds like how I'd show my husband a good time too…except my neglige is 15 years old and the buttons are falling off.
I love the "Because I like my 8 hours a night" LOL Loved this post…I own Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands as well as Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage and they are both right on. Dr. Laura knows what's up and the husbands (usually) concur. π
This is perfect and completely correct. As a husband, its all I really want. And for whoever asked about ordering in, that works too especially if you are in a negligee!
