A good deed
'Try to do something nice for someone else every day!' I always tell my children.
Sometimes you have to wait until an opportunity to do something good presents itself. And this weekend a lovely chance fell right into my lap.
Childhood memories
Someone had read one of my posts about children's bibles. She'd recognized one of them as the bible her parents used to read to her. Unfortunately it had gotten lost during a move. So she asked me if I could send her the name of the publisher and any other information which would help her find this bible in a bookstore or on eBay.
So I sprinted to my bookcase, looked it up and emailed her all the information.
Found it!
Then I went on with my day. As it happened my eldest son needed a haircut, and I thought: 'As long as I have to wait, why not visit the local thrift shop?!' When I was there I remembered the bible, so I decided to have a look between the piles of book in the shop.
And what do you know! There it was: the bible! I was so excited to find it, and happily paid 1 dollar for it. When I got home I send another email telling her I had found the bible and I would send it to her.
She was very happy.
And that made me happy too.
