What to give to an 18 year old boy?

Last week my eldest son turned 18.

And I wanted to give him something special. Something he can look at when he's 80 and say:

'This is what my parents gave me when I turned eighteen. Isn't it lovely?'

But what do you give to an 18 year old boy who's main interest is computer games?!

A St. Christopher keychain

After lots of pondering, and tearing my hair out I found it! I decided on a St. Christopher coin on a keychain.

St.Christopher is the patron saint of travellers. And I would love for him to keep an eye on my son as he travels through his life.

St.Chrisopher coins also come in medaillons. But I know my son. He doesn't 'do' jewelry. So that's why I decided on a keychain. That way he'll always have it with him.

On the front there's a picture of St.Christopher. And on the back it says: 'Get home safely'.

I love my gift.

And hopefully in the future my son will appreciate it too.

  1. This is a good idea! 18-year-olds are definitely not the easiest to buy for...especially boys LOL Thanks so much for joining us at the #HomeMattersParty - we hope to see you again next week!

  2. What a neat gift that he will cherish and be able to hand down to the next generation! Very classy 🙂 Thanks for sharing this idea on the Art of Home-Making Mondays!

  3. That's a great idea. I used to carry a St. Christopher medal with me, but I think I've lost it. I'll have to get another one. I gave my granddaughter a special Tree of Life necklace for her 13th birthday. It had a series of emblems on it that had to do with self-respect and saving yourself for the future. Hopefully, it made an impression on her. #SITSSharefest
