Making coffee with a brown paper bag?
Sounds a bit strange, doesn't it. But it's possible with the Coffee Brewer, an invention of the Danish company Grower's Cup.
I always like to try out of new stuff, so I made a detour to a store selling camping goods to buy a Grower's Cup Coffee Brewer.
Grower's Cup Coffee Brewer: what is it?!
The Grower's Cup Coffee Brewer is a brown paper bag. It contains 26 miligram of grounded coffee. With one bag you can brew yourself 3 cups of coffee. And you don't need a machine to do it.
It is best described as a single-brew French press.
Inside the pouch is a filter with freshly ground coffee.
History of the Grower's Cup Coffee Brewer: some history
One day managing director of Grower's Cup, Ulrik Skovgaard Rasmussen fancied some coffee. So he went to make some, only to discover they were out of coffee filters! 'Shucks!' Rasmussen thought to himself. 'Why isn’t it possible to brew a decent cup of coffee without machines or special brewing equipment?'
So he got to work, and years later, voila! The Grower's Cup Coffee Brewer!
Grower's Cup Coffee Brewer: how does it work?
It sounds real easy! All you have to do is pour hot water into the bag, wait for 5 minutes, and then enjoy your coffee.
On the back of the pouch there's a manual with pictures and everything.
Rather than explaining it myself, I'm just going to show you this video!

In spite of the manual and studying the video, I still managed to do it wrong...
The first thing I had to do was pull the red thingy. But I had some trouble with it, and I got all flustered. And that's probably why I poured the hot water into the wrong opening. I poured it into the spout instead of into the pouch.

Summing up
Unfortunately I can't say much about how the coffee of the Grower's Cup Coffee Brewer tastes, because I did it wrong. So one of my recommendations is to practice first!
I also think this way of making coffee is mostly suited for people who go on hiking trips. Making coffee at home this way, might get a bit expensive.

Hey there! popped over from the Weekend no rules blog hop info site...just gotta say, I love coffee and this sounds fun- but isn't it easier to just brew it in a coffee-maker? Why did you decide to do this?
That's a very valid question Kim! I probably is wáy easier to just brew it in my normal coffee maker. But I just love trying out new stuff. And I liked the idea of brewing my coffee in a paper bag!
